The Gun Self-Propelled 17pdr (Archer)also known as Archer was a self propelled anti tank vehicle used by the british between 1944 and 1945.
The vehicle was manned by a crew of 4 and was 2.66 metres wide, 6.77 metres long, 2.26 metres high and weighed 16.5 tonnes.
Powered by a hp petrol engine the Gun Self-Propelled 17pdr (Archer) was capable of a road speed of 15mph and a cross country speed of 8mph.
Based on the sp gun chassis, the vehicle was armed with a Ordnance Q.F. 17pdr with a muzzle velocity of 950m/sec which was capable of penetrating 124mm of armour at 800metres |
