15cm s.I.G. Gw 38(t) front engine

The 15cm s.I.G. Gw 38(t) front engine was a self propelled artillery vehicle , 102 of which were used by the germans between 1943 and 1945.
The vehicle was manned by a crew of 4 and was 2.15 metres wide, 4.69 metres long, 2.46 metres high and weighed 12 tonnes.
Powered by a 125hp petrol engine the 15cm s.I.G. Gw 38(t) front engine was capable of a road speed of 21mph and a cross country speed of 10mph.
Based on the czech 38t chassis, the vehicle was armed with 1 light machine gun, a 15cm sIG33 L/11 with a muzzle velocity of 280m/sec which was capable of penetrating 40mm of armour at 800metres |
