The Cruiser Mk VIII (Cromwell I A27M)also known as Cromwell was a cruiser tank used by the canadians between 1943 and 1945. The vehicle was manned by a crew of 5 and was 2.92 metres wide, 6.4 metres long, 2.49 metres high and weighed 28 tonnes. Powered by a 600hp petrol engine the Cruiser Mk VIII (Cromwell I A27M) was capable of a road speed of 30mph and a cross country speed of 18mph. The 139 gallon fuel capacity gave the Cruiser Mk VIII (Cromwell I A27M) a road range of 173 miles Based on the cromwell chassis, the vehicle was armed with 2 light machine guns, a Ordnance Q.F. 6pdr 7cwt MKII MKIV with a muzzle velocity of 900m/sec which was capable of penetrating 75mm of armour at 800metres
