The Howitzer Motor Carriage M8 was a self propelled artillery vehicle , 1778 of which were used by the americans between 1942 and 1945. The vehicle was manned by a crew of 4 and was 2.26 metres wide, 4.46 metres long, 2.34 metres high and weighed 15.73 tonnes. Powered by a 220hp petrol engine the Howitzer Motor Carriage M8 was capable of a road speed of 35mph and a cross country speed of 24mph. The 89 gallon fuel capacity gave the Howitzer Motor Carriage M8 a road range of 100 miles Based on the sp gun chassis, the vehicle was armed with 1 light machine gun, a 75mm Gun M2 with a muzzle velocity of 0m/sec which was capable of penetrating 0mm of armour at 800metres
