The Light Tank M3A1 (Stuart III)also known as Stuart III was a light tank , 4621 of which were used by the americans between 1941 and 1945. The vehicle was manned by a crew of 4 and was 2.26 metres wide, 4.58 metres long, 2.31 metres high and weighed 12.7 tonnes. Powered by a 250hp petrol engine the Light Tank M3A1 (Stuart III) was capable of a road speed of 34mph and a cross country speed of 20mph. The 54 gallon fuel capacity gave the Light Tank M3A1 (Stuart III) a road range of 124 miles Based on the light tank chassis, the vehicle was armed with 4 light machine guns, a 37mm Antitank Gun M6 with a muzzle velocity of 885m/sec which was capable of penetrating 48mm of armour at 800metres
