The Char Leger R-40 (Renault) was a light tank used by the french between 1940 and 1945. The vehicle was manned by a crew of 2 and was 1.87 metres wide, 4.05 metres long, 2.1 metres high and weighed 10 tonnes. Powered by a 82hp petrol engine the Char Leger R-40 (Renault) was capable of a road speed of 12mph . Based on the light tank chassis, the vehicle was armed with 1 light machine gun, a 37 mm SA M1938 L/33 with a muzzle velocity of 701m/sec which was capable of penetrating 25mm of armour at 800metres
