The Grantalso known as Lee was a medium tank used by the british between 1940 and 1945.
The vehicle was manned by a crew of 6 and was 2.74 metres wide, 5.69 metres long, 3.15 metres high and weighed 27 tonnes.
Powered by a 340hp petrol engine the Grant was capable of a road speed of 21mph and a cross country speed of 16mph. The 175 gallon fuel capacity gave the Grant a road range of 120 miles
Based on the medium tank chassis, the vehicle was armed with 3 light machine guns, a Ordnance Q.F. 37mm Mk 1 with a muzzle velocity of 850m/sec which was capable of penetrating 40mm of armour at 800metres and a 75mm Gun M2 L/31 with a muzzle velocity of 588m/sec which was capable of penetrating 65mm of armour at 800metres |
