The Char Leger H-39 (Hotchkiss) was a light tank , 1200 of which were used by the french between 1938 and 1945. The vehicle was manned by a crew of 2 and was 1.87 metres wide, 4.26 metres long, 2.15 metres high and weighed 12 tonnes. Powered by a 120hp petrol engine the Char Leger H-39 (Hotchkiss) was capable of a road speed of 22mph and a cross country speed of 10mph. The Char Leger H-39 (Hotchkiss) had a road range of 150 miles Based on the light tank chassis, the vehicle was armed with 1 light machine gun, a 37 mm SA M1938 L/33 with a muzzle velocity of 701m/sec which was capable of penetrating 25mm of armour at 800metres
